AmbiVision™
Read the unreadable.
All at first sight.
Exceptional AI-powered vision. Automates exception handling.
Unlabeled Goods?
$200 billion in retail goods remain "impossible to automate" due to a lack of digital identifiers.
Manual Intervention?
Workers must manually intervene to route items, increasing operational costs by up to 30%.
Rigid Automation?
Traditional vision systems are too brittle for the inconsistent labeling found in real-world distribution.
Unreadable labels?
Damaged or missing barcodes frequently disrupt automated workflows and stall throughput.
Vision that never blinks. AI-opening intelligence.
AmbiVision leverages specialized 3D AI vision skills from the AI Skill Suite™ to provide the real-time item intelligence and perception required to power reliable downstream automation.

-
What is AmbiVision?
AmbiVision is Ambi Robotics' AI-powered optical character recognition system designed to identify and extract text from cases of goods in distribution centers, even when labels are inconsistent, varied, or unstructured.
-
What problem does AmbiVision solve?
Many distribution centers receive goods from suppliers who don't follow standardized barcode or labeling requirements. AmbiVision eliminates the need for operators to manually read and enter label information by automatically identifying the relevant data, like PO numbers or item numbers, regardless of how it's written or where it appears on the box.
-
How does AmbiVision work?
Cases pass through a scan tunnel equipped with cameras and image-based barcode scanners. The system captures images from all sides of the box, runs them through an AI model to locate and extract the requested identifiers, and sends the results to your warehouse management or sorting system, all processed locally on-site.
-
What types of text can AmbiVision read?
AmbiVision can identify any text-based identifier you define, PO numbers, item numbers, lot numbers, and more. It's built to handle real-world label conditions: text printed directly on cardboard, varied fonts, inconsistent formatting (PO vs. P.O. vs. Purchase Order), and boxes covered in irrelevant copy.
-
Does AmbiVision also read barcodes?
Yes. When barcodes are present, the system prioritizes barcode scanning for speed and accuracy. OCR is used as a fallback, or as the primary method, when barcodes aren't available or reliable.
-
What's included in the scan tunnel solution?
The system includes a structural frame with integrated lighting, image-based barcode scanners, a dimensioning camera, an electrical cabinet, and an on-site computer for local processing. Conveyance can be provided by the customer, an integrator, or Ambi Robotics depending on the installation.
-
Can AmbiVision integrate with my existing warehouse systems?
Yes. AmbiVision sends read results directly to your warehouse management system or sorting system. Integration is designed to fit into existing workflows without requiring major infrastructure changes.
-
What industries or use cases is AmbiVision built for?
AmbiVision is built for distribution centers handling cases of goods across verticals including discount retail, apparel, healthcare, and 3PL operations, particularly facilities that receive goods from suppliers with inconsistent or non-standardized labeling.
-
What happens when AmbiVision can't read a label?
The system is designed to flag low-confidence reads so operators can intervene only when necessary, rather than manually processing every item. Read rate, accuracy, and decode time are all tracked and surfaced as performance metrics.
-
Can AmbiVision expand beyond OCR?
Yes. The platform is designed to grow with your operation. Future capabilities include damage detection, product weighing for anomaly inspection, print-and-apply barcode labeling, and case opening for individual product inspection.
