Ambi Robotics wins an RBR50 Robotics Innovation Award for the third time

Ambi Robotics Inc. this week said it named a 2026 RBR50 Innovation Award winner for AmbiStack, an advanced multi-purpose robotic system autonomously stacking packages onto pallets or into containers.
“AmbiStack’s recognition in the RBR50 Innovation Awards speaks to the increasing demand for automation that can perform reliably in complex, real-world environments,” said Jim Liefer, CEO of Ambi Robotics. “For our customers, that translates directly into greater efficiency and more predictable operating costs, bringing consistency and scalability to an industry that greatly needs it.”
Founded in 2018, Ambi Robotics is a leading provider of AI-driven robots for commercial operations. The Berkeley, Calif.-based company said its systems scale e-commerce operations to meet demand while empowering humans to handle more.
Ambi said top roboticists, AI researchers, and leading business professionals work together to build cost-effective high-volume supply chain technologies. In March, the company released AmbiVision to automate complex item identification, tracking, and optical character recognition.
AmbiStack boosts throughput by 5x, says Ambi Robotics
In 2025, co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Stephen McKinley led the first commercial implementation of AmbiStack at one of the largest shipping and logistics company’s warehouse sites. The system is now deployed in high-volume logistics hubs across the nation, helping companies move packages faster, denser and with fewer labor constraints.
Since its initial deployment, AmbiStack has improved customer throughput by 5x, said Ambi Robotics. It stacks mixed cases onto pallets or into walled containers with maximum density — far beyond the industry average of 68% stack density, according to the company.
“The commercial deployment of AmbiStack represents a major milestone for our technology and proves its reliability at scale,” said McKinley. “This award win is further validation of the work that has gone into bringing physical AI into the warehouse as a practical automation solution.”
About the 2026 RBR50 Robotics Innovation Awards
For over a decade, the RBR50 Innovation Awards have recognized the most innovative and influential organizations in the robotics industry.
AmbiStack was selected for its industry advancement in physical AI: the robot can stack uniform and non-uniform packages without prior knowledge of their size, position, or appearance using cameras, machine vision, and AI to identify items and strategically stack them onto pallets or into walled containers.
This is Ambi Robotics’ third RBR50 Award: AmbiOS was recognized in the Technology and Services category in 2021, and AmbiSort B-Series was recognized in the Technology, Product, and Services category in 2024. See the full list of 2026 winners.
